Gemma Ward’s Ass Makes Our Day

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

I just ran into speak of the devil Gemma Ward on the corner Houston and Wooster. I’m happy to report that Gemma indeed has a beautiful face. To our astonishment, however, her ass was on the dumpy side! Not fat, mind you, but definitely wider than mine! I don’t know if you can share the significance of this event but I think my self esteem just grew a hundred points… Ohh I love Gemma!

In Other Model News…

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Kate Moss is out of rehab. “She is in excellent spirits and looking forward to getting back to work,” reports the Daily News. But wait, here comes the wonky part: “Among those pulling for Kate is ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp. The actor is said to have given her the curious gift of a mirror. It’s not meant as a piece of drug paraphernalia, according to the London Sun. Rather, Depp, who’s part Cherokee, is said to have given it as a shamanic device to help Moss “face herself without fear.” Now who said something about keeping it real?

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Calvin Klein’s latest “obsession” Gemma Ward edits the December issue of Vogue Australia. In the issue, Ward recounts, in detail, her experiences from the recent New York, Milan, and Paris shows for a fashion runway diary. In addition, Ward selected a portfolio of never-before-seen images of herself from backstage, at parties, and at fittings that will be published in the issue. Meanwhile, the issue also features an exclusive interview with Marc Jacobs, which she conducted immediately following his spring ’06 show. Gemma, she’s not just beautiful, she can also edit.

Supermodels Are People Too

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Page Six not so Blind Item outs pregnant supermodel Natalia Vodianova as a drinker and a pot-smoker. Naturally, Stoner Natalia comes as more of a surprise than Cocaine Kate. How can she possibly stay so model-skinny after all of the doritos, ice cream, and other assorted munchies?! That’s a mystery. [Gawker]

Fashion Week Survival Guide

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

Fashion Week Daily comes out with insider tips to surviving an international fashion week.
A:Ab Zapper No one will ever know you’re working out from your front row seat.
G: Great Gams Fashion shows are the only place in the world where your calves get more airtime than your breasts/ass.
H: Horsey Good Looks Big teeth, rosy glow, Kennedy-esque. A classically American persona that must be earned and not bought. Aided by white wine in the daytime and ownership of livestock.
I: I.D. Have your VIP credentials at the ready, but for the love of god, never wear them around your neck. Ever.
K: Kisses Hugs are reserved for the people you love. Kisses are for everybody else.
M: Menswear Huh? What’s that?
N: Narcolepsy Get a little shuteye while chatting with nearby editors and socialites.
W: Willpower You want to trash-talk your rival magazine’s dumpy staff. Or to tell what’s-his-name that his collection was pompous and derivative. You may even want to scream obscenities and eat the caramelized sugar off all the crème brulées at your table. YOU CANNOT.

Please. Fashion editrix should stop pretending they hate the fashion week. We all know you exist for fashion weeks. Admit it already.

Double Whammy

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

If you like David Bowie and Kate Moss this is your lucky day. We accidently found the scans of Q Magazine photosession with both icons. It could almost look as if there is chemistry involved between these two. But we know for sure Bowie laid off chemistry long time ago.

Mariacarla For H&M?

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

Vogue.co.uk wonders if Givanchy muse Mariacarla Boscono is the next Kate Moss. “Speculation is rife that H&M is looking for a familiar face to front the forthcoming Stella McCartney collection, originally shot with Kate. Despite H&M failing to comment, fashion insiders believe the company is interested in both Mariacarla Boscono, who recently secured a contract with French fashion house Givenchy, and Erin O’Connor, whose recent campaign with M&S has been a great success for the previously ailing company. Those in the know think that Boscono is the more likely contender, as O’Connor will probably not be allowed to work for both H&M and M&S simultaneously.”

The Order of Malta

Thursday, October 20th, 2005

All those trying to stay one step ahead of fashion are already updating their looks for spring. Those in the know have already pulled out their gothic t-shirts, skinny pants, waist belts and sling-back wedges. Only the deaf and the blind continue sporting boho. (Ick!) Medieval knights and their dames are the inspiration for Spring 2006. JC Report suggests we take the que from Nicolas Ghesquiere and embellish ourselves with crests and crowns. The crusade is totally on, ladies.

Fall Celebritywear

Friday, October 7th, 2005

People publishes celebrity fall fashions pics. Lindseys and Nicoles are dressed in things that look like the basics from Zara catalogue – velvet, frilly blouses, military jackets and flat boots – accessoriesed with studded hobo bags and black necklaces. There is something to be said about looking “very now” – it’s awfully close to looking “so five minutes ago”.

Tod’s Unveils New Logo

Friday, October 7th, 2005

Italian brand Tod’s unveils the results of its search for a signature symbol. The solution doesn’t involve a “T” emblem as you might have imagined. “Tod’s handbags will now feature a pattern of little motorboats whizzing over water — motorboats that are stylized images of Tod’s popular driving shoe, with its trademark black-rubber pebbles around the edges. Tod’s says it plans to unveil a different design every season”. [WSJ]

Suburban bonanza: Tod’s new motif, center, and a few of the rejected designs.

All you have to do to succeed in the fashion biz, kids, is create a recognizable logo and plaster it all over your bags and shoes and your revenue will sky rocket! The masses like logos.

NYT Ode To Russians

Saturday, October 1st, 2005

The New York Times declares a Russian moment in New York fashion pointing to the prominance of russky influece on Diane von Furstenburg and Marc Jacobs. Weird. We thought that the Russian moment ended two years ago, around time when Carrie Bradshaw ditched Alexander Petrovsky. But we thought wrong. What we were missing all along was the existence of a Russian It Girl: Anna Anisimova, the spawn of a Moscow aluminum lord, who evidently is conquering New York making all sorts of real estate deals. It is too bad NYT did not post a picture of that classless brat. We have a feeling we know her, a Just Cavalli-wearing Paris Hilton wonnabe that she is. [NYT]
