Look Book

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

If you walk down a New York street chances are you will bump into some variation of these two ensembles spotted by New York magazine. You will see leggings and riding boots a la MK Olsen circa last winter and bermudas and baby-doll tops a la Lindsay Lohan circa now. That is after you get a boho-chic-load of Sienna Miller’s and Nicole Richie’s look-alikes.

A Mary-Kate Olsen obsessed NYU freshman and an H&M-loving Swedish reporter.

Nicole Richie poses for Marc Jacobs ad campaign. Despite the chronic lack of cholesterol Nicole looks a hundred times better than Marc Jacobs’ ex-face Sofia Coppola.

One thing wrong with this picture is that Nicole’s heel is about to snap. Marc Jacobs must have outsoursed to Taiwan.

Vogue Correction We reported yesterday that Nicole Richie will appear in the autumn/winter 2005-6 advertising campaign for Marc Jacobs. This is incorrect information and we apologise to all concerned. (Thanks Missy-j)

Oh, Madge, you look great but you’re not fooling anyone with your chickens and a fake accent.

Vogue Fall Mantra

Saturday, July 16th, 2005

Fall apparel is now available in stores and don’t you dare forget it. You will not survive the coming fall without a long narrow sweater, Edwardian blouse, a cardigan, a pouffy skirt and a pair of cigarette pants! You must buy them now or die.

Hippy chic is giving us heartburn. We can’t even make out who is who anymore. These three look like Kate Bosworth, Mischa Barton and Keira Knightley.

Now that we think about it we actually like Keira’s belted polka dot dress, knit jacket, Fendi bag and distressed boots (?!) ensemble.

Identical: Rachel Bilson, Mischa’s sister and Mischa in West Hollywood.

Old Face of Versace

Wednesday, July 13th, 2005

Despite our angry protests Demi Moore was photographed by Mario Testino to become the new face of Versace – taking over from Madonna who was the house figurehead for spring/summer 2005.

How fake are those breasts?! The entire thing for that matter!

The autumn/winter 2005-6 ads, which will appear in magazines from this week, were shot in Testino’s London studio in April. “I was thrilled and honoured when they asked me to do the new campaign,” says Demi. “Donatella is an amazing woman and I adore working with Mario.” Donatella, meanwhile, says the American actress and mother-of-three is the perfect Versace woman. “Like Demi, they can be strong yet feminine, beautiful yet real, and furthermore they can combine the roles of mother and professional, finding success in their careers as well as raising a family. She was rumored to be paid over $10 million. Demi will also be appearing on an upcoming cover of Vanity Fair with Ashton Kutcher.

Sienna Overrated

Monday, July 11th, 2005

What’s with everyone gushing about Sienna Miller? So she has a stylist well versed in 60’s and 70’s fashion. That doesn’t make one a fashion icon. No fashion icon would ever put on a tube top that teenage byotches from Queens have been wearing to block parties since 2002. And who does Jude Law think he is? Liberace?

Is that a flashlight in your pocket, dear, or you’re just happy to see me?

Russky Kitch

Sunday, July 10th, 2005

Jean Paul Gaultier is fascinated with Russian kitch this season. Boyarka’s and Khokhlushka’s were strutting Gaultier’s runway last week showing off their embroidered shawls and fur-lined boots. He then went on to show this summer’s most knocked-off trend, a tiered gypsy skirt, which looked like an equivalent of a Gaultier fashion burb. No more vodka for Jean Paul.

Juliette Lewis for J. Lindeberg by Steven Klein

The campaign was shot by Steven Klein, featuring artists Juliette Lewis – trendy actress and singer with Juliette and the Licks, Carl Barat – former co-frontman and co-songwriter with The Libertines, at present working on his first-ever solo album. Johan Lindeberg Creative Director informed it was the best campaign he ever created in his life. Juliette said that she liked to feature in both the man’s and woman’s roles in the ad campaign. There is a stylishness in his designs, which makes a perfect matching to her personality.”

Revolutionary? Exaggerating much?

Free Katie

Read the creepiest interview with Katie Holmes today. She’s like a robot with three choice phrases: “Tom is the man of my dreams”, “He’s just amazing”, “I’m so in love!” If we throw water on her, her wires will fritzz.

“During the W interview, the actress wouldn’t part from Jessica Rodriguez, who is described as her “Scientologist chaperone.” Rodriguez’s role in Holmes’ life remains vague, though Rodriguez says they’re “just best friends” since meeting around the time Holmes met Cruise. “You adore him,” Rodriguez told Holmes when the actress was at a loss for words to describe her love.” [CNN]

Britney Maternity Wear

Wednesday, July 6th, 2005

Normally Fashion Addict Diary couldn’t care less about what Britney Spears wears but this is a special occasion. Pregnant Britney is wearing ASHLEY TYLER, our favorite avant-guard designer who dresses the likes of David Bowie and Bjork. We are overjoyed that this talented artist (and by that we mean Ashley, not Britney) is finally seen in People Magazine! We are so psyched for you, girl.

American Way

Friday, July 1st, 2005

One great thing about having your own company is that you can play with your employees. That is untill they sue you.
“RENEGADE American Apparel CEO Dov Charney hired porn star Lauren Phoenix to hawk his socks, so his latest legal troubles maybe aren’t so surprising. Charney, whose company touts its unbranded clothing and progressive policies in soft-core ads, is being sued by three female ex-employees for sexual harassment and lewdness, WWD reports.

Former sales manager Mary Nelson claims Charney dropped his pants, touched himself and referred to his employees in a vulgar manner. She wants 10 percent of the company’s revenues for damages. Other employees charge Charney asked them to round up sex partners for him. Charney denies the charges but admits he “made mistakes.” An article in Jane magazine last year noted he had oral sex with an employee and performed a lewd act in front of the reporter. [NYPost]
